Congressman Conaway Says Dr. Fu Isn't a Chinese Spy

MIDLAND, TX – Congressman Mike Conaway has released a statement regarding the man in Midland being accused of being a spy for communist China.

As previously released, on Oct. 6, Dr. Bob Fu, a pastor in Midland, has been accused of being a spy for the Chinese Communist Party. Check out the full story here: Pastor Harassed Because He's a Communist Spy, Protesters Say

After days of protests in front of the Pastor's home many have spoken out in favor of Dr. Fu. One of those people includes U.S. Congressman for TX-11 Mike Conaway.

“Dr. Fu is a respected and valued member of our community, a Christian, and a personal friend. After fleeing religious imprisonment in China and coming to the United States as refugee in 1997, he has dedicated his life to exposing human rights violations and advocating on behalf of other Christians in China who are facing persecution—including testifying before Congress, the United Nations and the European Union, and even briefing then President of the United States George W. Bush in 2008. These accusations against him are outrageous and laughable—as Dr. Fu is himself a victim of the Chinese Communist Party. The CCP has proven themselves an adversary of religious freedom through their known persecution of Christians and imprisonment of an estimated one million ethnic Uyghur Muslims in the Xinjiang region, and their far-reaching intimidation and threat tactics used against those who dare to speak out against these human rights violations. The United States must be vigilant in protecting our citizens against the aggression of the CCP.” stated Conaway in a press release.

Fu is a billionaire Chinese national that fled the country after being deemed a "whistle-blower."

According to newswest9 the protests are still on-going.
