5th Candidate Enters County Commissioner Race With Deadline Looming

 

SAN ANGELO – The 5th Tom Green County resident interested in becoming Pct. 4 County Commissioner has filed preliminary paperwork for a place on the ballot with the deadline to file for office looming Monday.  

According to a Campaign Treasurer Appointment filed with the Tom Green County Elections Office, Derrick Wayne Garnett is working to become a candidate for Tom Green County Commissioner in Pct. 4.  

Garnett says he is running as a Republican in the March 1, 2022 primary.  

Garnett would join the field including Republicans Lori Wilson, CoCo Simpson, Dustin Barton and Shawn Nanny in the race.  

Bill Ford is the incumbent Commissioner and has said publicly he will be running for re-election. 

The deadline to file for a spot on the Democrat or Republican Primary ballot is Monday at 5 p.m.  The primary election is March 1, 2022.
