Pachyderm Club to Host Tom Green County Judge Candidates

SAN ANGELO – The March 1, 2022 Republican Primary election in Tom Green County is heating up and candidates for several offices are making a strong push to get voters' attention before early voting begins Feb. 14.

The San Angelo Pachyderm Club is hosting the GOP candidates for Tom Green County Judge Wednesday at their regular monthly luncheon at Miss Hattie's Restaurant downtown.

Current Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd announced last year he would not seek re-election.  Four candidates have entered the primary race for Tom Green County Judge: former San Angelo City Councilman Lane Carter, former San Angelo LIVE! Publisher Joe Hyde, attorney Tommy Usery and business owner Todd Kolls.

The four candidates have not appeared in public at a forum together.  All four candidates were confirmed for a candidate forum on Jan. 13, but Kolls dropped out at the last minute citing Covid concerns.

A fifth candidate, local pastor Gary Jenkins, has announced a run for Tom Green County Judge as an independent candidate.  As such he is not on the ballot in March and still has to secure a spot on the November ballot by gathering signatures for a petition in June.

It is unknown if all the candidates will participate in the Pachyderm candidate forum today.

The San Angelo Pachyderm Club meets at from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miss Hattie's restaurant downtown.

Seating is extremely limited.
