San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Inducted Into 2026 ProRodeo Hall of Fame

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo will be inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame as part of the 2026 class, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association announced Tuesday.

The event was selected in the Rodeo Committee category. It joins a class headlined by Western lifestyle media mogul Jeff Medders, steer wrestler Butch Myers and bull rider Jerome Davis, the PRCA said.

San Angelo has become one of the highest-paying rodeos in the PRORODEO Playoff Series, with nearly $800,000 in prize money, making it a must-attend stop for top cowboys and cowgirls. It also hosts the San Angelo Xtreme Bulls, a major Division I event in the Rank 45 Xtreme Bulls Series, and the San Angelo Cinch Chute-Out.

The stock show and rodeo, originally called the “Fat Stock Show,” began as an idea in 1932 by J. Culberson “Cub” Deal to promote the growth of San Angelo and lift spirits during the Great Depression. An experimental rodeo was added in 1934 alongside the stock show. The only interruption came in 1943 when a fire destroyed key facilities. After rebuilding, the event expanded and has become a cornerstone of the Texas Swing on the PRCA circuit.

“This is definitely a rodeo town,” Justin Jonas, executive director of the San Angelo Rodeo, said in a statement. “Our rodeo and our stock show is the biggest event for San Angelo. It’s the biggest economic impact event for the city of San Angelo, and the whole town just supports this rodeo.”

The 2026 ProRodeo Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for July 18 at 10 a.m. MT in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
