Rodeo: Watch This Incredible 91-Point Ride on a Sheep

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Sonora Bank Mutton Bustin’ during each performance of the San Angelo rodeo never fails to disappoint.

Mutton Bustin’ is the art of children riding sheep for fun and prizes at American rodeos. No mutton bustin’ event is better than what happens in San Angelo.

At the San Angelo rodeo, the contestants must be older than 4 years old and weigh less than 50 pounds. The child “saddles up” on a sheep that runs out into the arena. Announcer Boyd Palhamus scores each ride. Generally, the contestant that holds on and atop (or on the side or hanging below) the sheep the longest will win that night’s performance

Friday night, Carson Owens scored an incredible 91 points on his sheep. Owens is rumored to desire to be a Wall Hawk football player when he gets older.

Owens’ score Friday night Feb.7 has been the best so far. The other top Sonora Bank Mutton Buster last week was Odan Wright from Menard. This was his second year to score the buckle last week.
