Rodeo 2021: Tuf Cooper Takes Early Lead With a 7.3-Second Tie-Down Run

SAN ANGELO, TX — Timed events at the first performance of the 2021 San Angelo Rodeo brought some fireworks. Cody Snow and Wesley Thorpe in team roping scored a hard-to-beat 4.2 second run. Clayton Hass in steer wrestling snagged second overall so far with a 5-second flat time. But Jason Thomas holds the top calf wrestling time of 4.6 seconds. The scores are that close!

In tie-down roping, fans in the stands were hoping the San Angelo Kid, Ty Harris, could place. Luck was not with Harris tonight. Instead, world champion Tuf Cooper moved into first place with a 7.3-second time in tie-down roping.

In the video presented by Dierschke and Dierschke Realtors, we have highlights from the timed roping events and then we talked to Cooper and asked him what it was like to go head to head with Ty Harris in Harris’ own backyard. Watch it above.
