WATCH: Friday's Finals Were Packed With Legendary Tie-Down Ropers

SAN ANGELO, TX – A true cowboys favorite event did not disappoint during the finals of the 90th annual San Angelo Rodeo. Especially when the local guy is fighting for first place.

Here’s the Matchup. The local guy, the underdog, and of course the legend.

The 2-time NFR Qualifier Tyler Milligan went first. He was able to set the pace with a smoking time of 7.8 seconds.

This gave San Angelo’s own and former rookie of the year Ty Harris a chance. Unfortunately, Harris got an ornery calf and was only able to tie him down in 8 point 5 seconds.

This left it all up to the hall of fame cowboy Tuf Cooper. Everyone held their breath as he threw his lasso, got off his pony, and hueyed down the calf. Despite the odds in his favor, Cooper's 8.4 time just wasn’t enough as Tuf Cooper and Tyler Milligan shared the tie-down roping title. Milligan scored over 17k for the rodeo while Cooper edged him with over 19 thousand in winnings.

Tuff and Tyler did end the battle on good terms and even caught up with San Angelo LIVE!s Manny Diaz to talk about San Angelo means to both cowboys.

It’s tie down roping presented by vehicle accessories and supply.
