New San Angelo City Council Members Take Oaths of Office

The council chamber was packed with an audience yesterday morning as Judge Allen Gilbert swore in the mayor and council members.

Charlotte Farmer and Marty Self ran unopposed this year making their win a piece of cake. Lucy Gonzales beat out Andrew Justis in SMD 4 elections, and Dwain Morisson defeated David Nowlin for another two-year term as mayor. A short thirty-minute reception was held as part of the celebration when everyone enjoyed cake and punch and the words “good luck” and “congratulations" could be heard throughout the chambers.

This could be the last of two-year terms for council members as the city charter is up for some changes that would give council memebers an extended term of four years.
