A Hydraulic Fluid Spill Slows Traffic on Sherwood Way

At approximately 7:15 a.m. this morning, the San Angelo Police Department sent out an alert for a "spill," and stated some drivers were having difficulty maintaining control of their vehicles.

Officials at the scene reported that the spill started in the area near Chick-fil-A and Sam's Club on Sherwood Way, and confirmed that a hydraulic spill occurred. The fluid came from a vehicle that broke down in the area, but the type of vehicle is still unconfirmed. Officials from the San Angelo Fire Department came out to help guide and block traffic from the areas of the spill, and the Texas Department of Transportation is currently in charge of the cleanup. Republic trucks are also assisting.

Currently, the boundary for the spill extends east, past the Loop 306 exit ramp, just right before Sunset and Sherwood Way. 

At this time, no accidents have occurred as a result of the spill. Tracy Gonzalez, public information officer for SAPD, said the cleanup is expected to take several hours, so expect a slight delay when traveling the area.
