Shannon Recognized for Outstanding Cardiac Care

San Angelo, TX – Shannon Medical Center is once again the recipient of a prestigious award given by the American College of Cardiology’s NCDR ACTION Registry. The award recognizes a hospital's commitment to providing higher standards of care for heart attack patients.

Shannon was one of the 223 hospitals across the country to receive the GWTG Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2016. To become eligible, recipients must follow the guidelines set forth by the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association for eight consecutive quarters.

Those treatment guidelines include administering aspirin upon arrival and discharge, timely restoration of blood flow to the blocked artery, smoking cessation counseling and cardiac rehabilitation among other things.

“Shannon is dedicated to improving the quality of care for our patients who suffer a heart attack,” said Chris Haddad, MD, Shannon Clinic Interventional Cardiologist. “We are pleased to be recognized for our dedication and achievements in cardiac care, and I am very proud of our team.”
