Sixth Annual Christmas at the Coop

SAN ANGELO, TX - The sixth annual Christmas at the Coop will take place at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts (SAMFA) in the Coop Gallery, 427 S. Oakes St.

A press release from the SAMFA stated, “Help us celebrate for the holidays with Christmas at the Coop exhibition. This exhibit lets us look at Christmas décor in a whole new way.”

The Christmas exhibits will be held on Dec. 10 and Dec. 15. Visitors can explore the history of the most common Christmas decorations and they could possibly find some new ones. Visitors can also make decorations of their own at the exhibit.

Christmas at the Coop

Saturday, Dec. 10, Christmas at the coop will be open during Family Day Give Back. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., free hot cocoa, a dollhouse display, an electric toy train, free pictures with Santa (10 a.m. to 12 p.m.), art activities and a community Christmas decoration display will all be available to the public.

The YMCA is also helping exhibit Christmas art from 20 local elementary school campuses. The public will be able to vote on their favorite display. The top three winners will receive prizes from the SAMFA.

The SAMFA press release said, “Children and adults can also create their own holiday picture frames and ornaments.”

Thursday, Dec. 15, Christmas at the coop will be open during the Art Walk from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Stephen Central Library’s Steam Central will have laser cut Christmas ornaments to create. “Visitors can enjoy free mulled wine and hot cocoa, a special viewing of a Charlie Brown Christmas, and even create their own ‘ugly’ Christmas sweater ($5 donation required),” the press release added.

If there are any Christmas decorations that anyone is interested in and the exhibit, contact Museum Educator Tiff Ellwanger at [email protected], or call (325)653-3333.
