SAN ANGELO, TX — Meleah Plummer is a 15-year-old 10th grade student at Wall High School who was diagnosed with a rare but critical medical condition with her brain. According to Meleah’s parents, Chris and Angela Plummer, the severe headaches and vomiting she has endured since around Christmas are caused by multiple cavernous malformations that are pushing down on the ventricles to her brain.
“This is a very tricky location for something like this and we are not sure how much of this mass will have to be removed,” explained her mother, Angela Plummer.

Meleah Plummer is a 15-year-old 10th grade student at Wall High School who was diagnosed with a rare but critical medical condition with her brain.
Meleah was operated on at Shannon Medical Center to stabilize her for a flight to Cooks Children’s in Fort Worth on Christmas Day. Since then, she received the diagnoses. Her younger brother Mason, 13, suffered a similar medical issue.
“This was in a life threatening situation to have a lesion hemorrhage that causes the brain to swell. We are thankful she is alive,” said the mother.

Meleah this year on her 15th birthday. To the right is mom, Angela with Meleah.
Angela said children are born with this condition. Some children have it in sporadic form, others suffer from it due to heredity. The family discovered younger brother Mason had an asymptomatic version of the condition after a CT scan in response to an unrelated minor head injury. He was generally asymptomatic, Angela said.

Meleah is active in Wall Hawk sports. She plays volleyball, women’s basketball, softball, and runs track.

“She is the sweetest person on earth,” Angela said.
The Plummer family has experienced a couple of rough nights as Meleah’s brain swelling caused extreme discomfort. As of Monday, Dec. 27, Meleah’s doctors were draining fluids from her brain area to relieve the pressure and hoping to have the brain activity calm down over the next day.
The Plummers believe in the power of prayer and request many prayers from family, friends, and even those who just learned about this.
“This is awful news and has hit us hard. Please pray fervently for our girl! She desperately needs it!” Angela said.
Specific prayers are requested. They are:
- For Meleah’s brain to calm down,
- For Meleah’s nausea to cease.
- and for doors to open as far as treatment.
The Plummers had to change health insurance companies to hire the doctor they want. His name is Dr. Dale Swift, a doctor of Neurological Surgery, who practices at Children’s Health in Dallas. The challenge is that the newer insurance is not active until Jan. 1, 2022. So for now, the doctors are stabilizing Meleah to prepare for more surgery after the new year.
In addition to prayers, a member of the Plummer family—mom or dad—has to be in Fort Worth for the duration and expenses will be adding up. A friend, Mikinzie Moore, published a GoFundMe page. As of 5 p.m. Dec. 27, the page had raised $9,410. You can donate here.

See, more reason to want universal healthcare, so this poor girl doesn't have to ask for money over the internet or suffer because insurance forces certain doctors on patients.
But republicans will stop at nothing to make sure this girl suffers because certain people they do not like might actually have a better life, and republicans can't have that.
I wish the best for this girl, but republicans are preventing her from getting better sooner.

It’s bad enough to see your pedantic liberal ravings but the LAST thing these people need is to listen to the likes of you!
Have a little compassion and don’t use their suffering to spout your idiotic ideas!
And before you reply and say something stupid you best think first.

Or what? You will do absolutely nothing?
Just like republicans to threaten (albeit very poorly) people they don't like who have better ideas that their own and actually want to make America a better place.
"Will you PLEASE just go away! "
If you are BEGGING me to go away I must be doing something right, thank you for acknowledging that you are losing.

PermalinkHatred for what exactly? A healthcare system that allows a young girl to suffer?
At least I am proposing changes that would make a difference, unlike you guys who are doing NOTHING, but pretending like you are doing something so you can make yourselves feel better.

PermalinkNot sure that it's a R/D issue. They're both on the same team at the end of the day. It's the lobbyists that line the pockets of both parties that ensure that at the very end of the day that it's insurance companies that are making medical decisions for people and not Dr's.

PermalinkI somewhat agree (on the lobbyists part), but democrats have proposed medicare for all several times in the past and the republicans shoot it down everytime because "socialism", yet every single other major country on earth has some form of universal healthcare. It can be done, and it would be cheaper overall in the long run than the current system. Not to mention be better for our country as a whole, the proof is happening right now with the pandemic, the US has the highest number of cases and deaths of any other country on earth, even beating India which has over a billion more people.
We can remove the insurance middle man altogether and be a much healthier and prosperous nation, it's just that republicans do not want anyone to have anything since Americans they do not like might actually have a better life.

PermalinkYou're missing my point that R/D are both on the same team. The separation of the two is merely an illusion to make us slaves believe that we actually have some sort of say in which party destroys our country. The two party system is a joke. When people wake up to what's really been going on in this country and the world, none of them R or D will be able to walk down the street. #savethechildren
