City to Certify May 3 Election Results; District 2 Runoff Scheduled for June 7

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo City Council will canvass results from the May 3 municipal election during a special meeting on Wednesday, May 14, ahead of a June 7 runoff for the District 2 City Council seat.

Early voting for the runoff between Dudra Butler and Joe Self will be held at the Keyes Building, 113 W. Beauregard Ave., on the following dates:

  • May 27–31: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

  • June 1: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

  • June 2–3: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

None of the District 2 candidates received more than 50% of the vote, triggering the runoff under city election rules.

Once results are canvassed on May 14, Mayor-elect Tom Thompson, District 4 Councilmember-elect Patrick Keely, and District 6 Councilmember Mary Coffey will be sworn in during the regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 20. Coffey was re-elected unopposed, while Thompson received 51% of the mayoral vote and Keely earned 67% in District 4.

Both meetings will be held at the McNease Convention Center, 501 Rio Concho Drive.

Voters also approved a bond measure for the CRC Roofers Coliseum renovation, which passed with 53% of the vote.
