New Motocross Track Under Construction Outside San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — A new full-sized motocross track is under construction behind Concho Valley Dragway, with organizers aiming for an opening by August and currently seeking local sponsors to support the project.

Concho Valley Motocross, owned by Kalen Winger Paxton, her husband, and her father Mark Winger, began construction on May 2.

The track, which will be located just west of San Angelo of RM 853, will stretch just over a mile long and include multiple jumps.

“There’s a big, big community,” Paxton said regarding the motocross community. “They’re usually going out to, like, Abilene and Midland. So this will be the sole track for San Angelo for motocross.”

The new dirt bike facility shares its entrance and amenities—including bathrooms and a concession stand—with the dragway, and is being carved out of the wooded area behind the racing strip.

Organizers hope to host races and practice events throughout the week once completed, and are working toward American Motorcyclist Association sanctioning to attract larger racing series. Admission is expected to be $20, with children 12 and under free.

Concho Valley Motocross is also offering sponsorship packages ranging from $1,000 to $30,000, with perks like banner placements, private track rentals, and season passes. Custom sponsorships involving water trucks, irrigation, equipment, or electrical support are also welcome.

“Family Powersports is really trying to push it as well," Paxton said. "So bikes are flying off their floors right now, just with so many people interested."

Volunteer support and sponsorship inquiries can be directed via the Concho Valley Motocross Facebook page or by calling (325) 656-1670.
