San Angelo Central Student Earns JROTC Scholarship

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Concho Valley Women Veterans Association awarded its first JROTC "Carolyn Mioduski Scholarship" to Central High School student Naiyah Reese on Monday.

Reese was selected based on her educational achievements, community service, and JROTC leadership performance.

Reese is graduating in the top 2% of her class and will be attending Texas A&M University this fall.

Reese served in multiple leadership roles with the Central JROTC, which stands for Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps, a federal military program offered in high schools.

Reese served as Group Commander, Deputy Group Commander, Group Superintendent and Flight Commander, among other roles. The U.S. Air Force is also sponsoring her attendance at a flight academy at Purdue University this summer so she can acquire a private pilot's license.

During her time at Central, Reese also completed more than 170 hours of community service.
