San Angelo ISD Board Certifies Election Results, Finalizes Bond and Trustee Vote Totals

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo ISD Board of Trustees officially canvassed the results of the May 3 election during a meeting held Monday evening, confirming the passage of a $397 million bond package and certifying the outcomes of four trustee races.

According to final totals provided at the meeting, Proposition A, the district’s bond initiative, passed with 5,611 votes in favor (54.30%) and 4,722 votes against (45.70%).

In the contested races:

  • District 2: Karla Cardenas was elected with 444 votes (58.19%), defeating Geneva Rodriguez, who received 319 votes (41.81%).

  • District 4: Ami Mizell-Flint was re-elected with 1,109 votes (54.98%), while Samantha Swartz garnered 908 votes (45.02%).

Two incumbents ran unopposed:

  • District 1: Bill Dendle — 941 votes

  • District 3: Dr. Taylor Kingman — 1,334 votes

The board initially read preliminary totals but amended the record mid-meeting after receiving updated figures. Both canvassing motions passed unanimously, 6–0.

Trustees will officially issue certificates of election and conduct swearing-in ceremonies during next week’s regular board meeting.
