Construction Begins on Second Splash Pad in San Angelo, Expected to Open This Summer

SAN ANGELO, TX — Construction is officially underway on a new splash pad at Kirby Park, the second of its kind in San Angelo, with completion anticipated this summer.

WTX Construction Specialties began work earlier this month, with All-Tex Irrigation and Supply, LLC managing the project. The splash pad is the final addition in a two-phase plan that began with the opening of the first splash pad at Unidad Park in July 2024.

The splash pads are free to the public and feature recirculating water systems powered by a 2,000-gallon underground reservoir. The water is filtered and sanitized, with on-demand operation triggered by a switch and regulated by a master timer.

Construction of both pads was supported through private funding approved by the City of San Angelo in January 2023. The Kirby Park installation was estimated at $334,857.38.

All-Tex Irrigation launched the project in June 2022 to expand access to recreational spaces.

"We couldn't be more thrilled to reach this milestone & are deeply grateful to our incredible community for their unwavering support in making this possible," All-Tex Irrigation stated.

Once construction is complete, the City of San Angelo will maintain both the Kirby Park and Unidad Park splash pads.

You guys plan on using the recycled piss water from Lake Nastywater, or rather the "production water" runoff from the rivers that the millionaire oilfield tycoons plan on dumping in? Glad I didn't raise kids in this shithole town.
