SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo City Council will meet Tuesday, June 17, to consider more than a dozen action items, including a $2 million water meter purchase, resolutions tied to local parks and events, and the official canvassing of the June 7 runoff election results.
The meeting begins at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center’s South Meeting Room at 501 Rio Concho Drive. Items on the consent agenda include the purchase of water meters from Core & Main, Inc. totaling $2,015,302, approval of non-monetary support for the West Texas All Stars Tournament for softball, and fire department authorization to apply for a federal FEMA grant.
Council will also weigh resolutions supporting shade structures at Webster Park and other city playgrounds, along with permits for the “Wake the Desert 2025” event at Middle Concho Park.
Additional items include the second reading of a proposed zoning change allowing multifamily development near Jackson Street and Town & Country Drive, and an amendment to the city’s current fiscal year budget.
On the special agenda, council members will canvass the results of the June 7 runoff and swear in the District 2 council member-elect, Joe Self. Mayor Tom Thompson will present the certificate of election, with Judge Jay Daniel administering the oath of office.
Regular agenda highlights include a resolution to collaborate with the Concho Valley Community Action Agency to create a new campus on city-owned land and a proposed special use permit for an artist residence and gallery at 1302 Kenwood. The council will also consider a proposed rezoning of 20.696 acres near McGill Blvd and Gregory Drive.
A closed session is scheduled under the Texas Open Meetings Act for legal and personnel matters, followed by discussion of board appointments and potential action on executive session items. Nominees include Mayor Joseph Rallo for a third term on the Airport Advisory Board, and Larry Miller to the Fort Concho Museum Board.
Following the meeting, council members will participate in a two-day Strategic Priority Workshop on June 17–18 at City Hall to review goals and hear departmental presentations.
