SAN ANGELO, TX — A local nonprofit focused on revitalizing the Martin Luther King Corridor will host a community fundraiser on Saturday, June 28, to support its next public art initiative.
The event, organized by Looping Us Together, will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Carl Ray Johnson Recreation Center, located at 1203 Farr St. in San Angelo. The organization, a registered 501(c)(3), is inviting residents to learn more about its ongoing beautification efforts and contribute to its newest mural project.
Looping Us Together dedicated its first project, the “Men of Honor” mural, on Feb. 1, 2025. The piece celebrates community heritage and the legacy of black leaders on San Angelo’s north side.
Organizers said the upcoming fundraiser will preview plans for a large-scale mural to be painted on the Loop 306 wall at Martin Luther King Drive and 7th Street. Another mural is planned near 9th Street and MLK Drive.
The nonprofit’s mission is to support local businesses and residents through projects that promote equitable economic development and honor the cultural history of the area. Proceeds from the event will help fund mural creation and community engagement initiatives.
All donations are tax-deductible. Contributions can be made on-site by scanning a QR code provided in event flyers, one of which is attached below.
The event is open to the public.
