SAN ANGELO, TX — The 2nd Annual San Angelo READS! & United We Read Back-to-School Pop-Up is set for Friday, August 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the CRC Roofers Coliseum, 50 E 43rd Street.
The free, family-friendly event aims to celebrate literacy and help San Angelo area students gear up for a successful school year.
Attendees can expect a variety of free resources and activities, including:

Free school supplies and backpacks

Free books

Free food

Free Kona shaved ice for the first 300 children

Free services, games, activities, and giveaways for all ages

Vision screening for both children and adults

An immunization clinic

On-site help with registration for the 2025–2026 school year

Appearances by Clifford the Big Red Dog, H-E-Buddy, Whataguy, and other "local celebrities"

More than 70 community partners offering support and services
More than 1,000 people participated in last year’s event, and organizers say they are excited to make this year’s pop-up even bigger and better.
The event is made possible by local partners who are donating supplies, services, and time.
"We’re grateful for their commitment to ensuring every child has the tools and support they need for a successful school year," information from San Angelo ISD stated. "Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected community – one backpack, book and smile at a time. We hope to see you there."
