Gov. Abbott Scheduled to Speak in San Angelo Today

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Gov. Greg Abbott is scheduled to speak in San Angelo today about the state’s continued response to the flooding that has impacted communities across Texas.

The press conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Spur Arena. For security and safety, only credentialed press is allowed at the location. It is not open to the public.

The Governor will be joined by Senator Charles Perry, Representative Drew Darby, Texas Division of Emergency Management Chief Nim Kidd, Tom Green County Judge Lane Carter, San Angelo Mayor Tom Thompson, San Angelo Fire Department Chief Patrick Brody, and other state and local officials. 

More than 130 people have been confirmed dead from the floods, with about 100 more still missing.

Kerr County was the hardest hit, with 107 confirmed deaths, including 37 children.

One person was killed during the flooding that occurred in San Angelo on July 4, with another Tom Green County resident killed in Kerr County.
