SAN ANGELO, TX — A family-run ice cream shop tucked inside an old San Angelo bus station has just landed on a national list of America’s best places to grab a scoop.
Located at 37A W. Concho Ave., between Irving and Chadbourne, The Latest Scoop has built a loyal following for its handcrafted ice cream, sorbets, and house-made waffle cones — all made from scratch on site. Now, that same small-batch charm has caught Yelp’s attention.

The Latest Scoop
The shop was ranked No. 39 on Yelp’s 2025 Top 100 Ice Cream Shops in the U.S., a list released ahead of National Ice Cream Day on July 20. The rankings are based on review volume, star ratings, and health inspection scores.
The Latest Scoop offers a rotating menu of ice cream and sorbet flavors. The shop also sells pints and quarts for take-home, along with a selection of beverages such as fruit smoothies, fresh-squeezed lemonade, teas, hot chocolate, and frappes.
With a 4.8-star rating on Google from more than 700 reviews, it’s clear the local favorite is turning heads beyond San Angelo.
The store is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 2 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 10 p.m., and is closed Mondays “to make ice cream.”
