San Angelo Animal Shelter Near Capacity as Longest-Stay Dogs Face Euthanasia

SAN ANGELO, TX — The City of San Angelo Animal Shelter is once again nearing capacity, prompting renewed efforts to place long-term shelter dogs into permanent homes before potential euthanasia.

Concho Valley PAWS, which partners with the city for adoptions, announced Thursday that the dogs currently facing the greatest risk are those with the longest stays at the shelter. According to the nonprofit, the shelter may reach full capacity at any time, which could trigger euthanasia decisions.

To encourage adoptions, Red Paw K9 LLC is offering seven free dog training lessons to anyone who adopts one of the dogs listed by PAWS. Each dog will be spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before going home.

The adoption fee for the listed dogs has been reduced to $25.

Community members are urged to visit the shelter, meet the dogs, and consider adopting or fostering. The full list of at-risk dogs, along with their photos and estimated ages, is available on the Concho Valley PAWS Facebook page. You can find that HERE.
