SAN ANGELO, TX — Jim Bass Ford and San Angelo Live will host their annual Fall Festival for Children with Special Needs. Celebrating over 20 years this year, the festival began as a humble idea and has blossomed into an event that brings in hundreds of attendees.
Organizer Laura Sosa loves to tell stories about all of the families that have been coming to the event for years. Sosa has seen these families expand and kids grow up during her time as event chair.
“We have had people come for years, and many look forward to participating in all the events like the 40 games hosted by various organizations, the hay ride, cupcake walk and trunk-or-treat," Sosa said.
For some, the Fall Festival is one of the only events each year that children with special needs and their families have the opportunity to attend. Children with special needs such as autism spectrum disorders, limited mobility or medical challenges may not have the chance to trick-or-treat in the traditional sense. Jim Bass Ford and San Angelo Live gives the attendees a chance to play games, enjoy refreshments, bounce houses, and more without worry or cost.
The event is completely free to children with special needs and their families. Many organizations have joined to make this event successful, including: CVCA Rainbow Room, ASU Council for Exceptional Children, Espisopal Church, Sonrias, Shannon Outreach, West Texas Rehab, Region 15, Pan American Golf Association, Night to Shine, CVCA Agency, Crime Stoppers, Blue Sprig, MHMR, La Esperanza, Empower Behavioral Health, Access Ability/First Foundation, Kids Care, Trina Delgado-Hairstylist, COSA-Rec Dept and Angelo State Needlepoint Group, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, San Angelo Fire Department and Southside Lions Club. Thank you to Jim Bass employees and the dozens of community volunteers who make this event possible.
Join Jim Bass and San Angelo Live on Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Jim Bass, 4032 Houston Harte Expressway. Costumes are encouraged.
