SAN ANGELO, TX— Carlie Jo Johnson, the young woman who inspired so many people with her faith and her fight against cancer, has passed away.
In April 2024, Carlie Jo was diagnosed with acute b cell lymphoblastic leukemia, a fast-growing aggressive blood cancer. Johnson went to the hospital believing she was anemic, only to be blindsided with a cancer diagnosis.
The hospital started her on chemotherapy that night and it was a yearlong fight as the search began for a stem cell transplant. A donor came in the form of her brother, Hayden, and earlier this year, Johnson was declared cancer free.
After beating cancer, at the end of September this year, Carlie Jo began getting sick. She ended up in the hospital and passed away at 10:58 a.m. on November 13, 2025.
TaLisha Johnson, Carlie Jo’s mother, said this on Facebook:
“18 months ago, Carlie Jo said, “God only sends his warriors into battle. I got this.”.
Today, the battle belongs to the Lord… and the battle has been won.
Our precious Carlie Jo entered the Kingdom this morning at 10:58 a.m. Our hearts are broken but she was comfortable, ready, and at peace surrounded by loved ones and the Lord’s presence.
We have had a hard but beautiful few days together and there are many more to come.
Since Carlie Jo's cancer diagnosis, it was difficult to find anyone who wasn't touched by her story. Her faith was incredibly strong through this time which inspired many to follow and support her. To make this situation easier on her family, Carlie Jo made funeral arrangements and wrote letters to her loved ones.
Now, Carlie Jo is home.
