SAN ANGELO, TX — A strong cold front is set to move through West Central Texas Wednesday afternoon and evening, ushering in a shift in temperatures and conditions across the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Highs that reached the upper 60s to lower 70s Wednesday will fall sharply behind the front, with much colder air arriving overnight. Forecasters expect the front to reach San Angelo and Brownwood by or shortly before midnight and push south toward the I-10 corridor soon after.
Thursday will be noticeably colder, with afternoon highs only in the 40s. Morning temperatures will drop into the mid-30s to near 40, and wind chills will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s as northeast winds increase to 10–20 mph under cloudy skies.
A low chance of precipitation is expected Thursday and Thursday night, mainly east of a Winters-to-Junction line where light rain or sprinkles may develop. Most areas west of that line, including San Angelo, are forecast to remain dry.
Temperatures are expected to recover into the 60s Friday and return to the upper 60s and lower 70s during the weekend.
