Texas Issued 412 Drilling Permits in November as San Angelo Area Logged 39

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — The Railroad Commission of Texas issued 412 original drilling permits in November 2025, according to newly released state data. The monthly total included 369 permits to drill new oil or gas wells, along with 7 permits to re-enter plugged wellbores, 3 field transfers, 32 re-completions and 1 reclass.

Statewide, the commission processed 798 oil completions, 295 gas completions and 151 injection well completions last month.

The breakdown of well types for the 412 original drilling permits included 56 oil wells, 32 gas wells, 280 oil-and-gas wells, 32 injection wells, one service well and one additional category.

For the San Angelo-area district (District 7C), operators were approved for 39 permits to drill new oil or gas wells in November. The district also recorded 125 new oil completions and 1 gas completion, according to the report.

The Midland district continued to lead the state in activity with 176 permits, 378 new oil completions and 70 new gas completions.
