Tom Green County Precinct 2 Commissioner Sammy Farmer Passes Away

SAN ANGELO, TX — Tom Green County is mourning the loss of Precinct 2 Commissioner Sammy Farmer, who died on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.

His family confirmed the news through an emotional social media post. Farmer's daughter, Tara Kelley, announced her father's passing on Facebook, sharing a touching tribute alongside a photo of him.

In her post, Kelley wrote: "Today was the day—my daddy has gained his angel wings & is celebrating his life in heaven. We are so honored to have called him ours & the memories of greatness are never-ending. Not many people are as blessed as we are to have had a father & pappy like we did & we are eternally grateful. Thank you all for the prayers, the love you have shown our family, & the friendships & strength you showed my dad. We will keep you all posted on when his celebration of life will be—but until then—go rest high, sweet Pappy! We will do our best to continue to make you proud."

Farmer served as Tom Green County Precinct 2 Commissioner since 2019.

Before entering public service, he built a long career at M.L. Leddy's Boots & Saddlery in San Angelo, where he worked for more than 30 years before retiring in June 2024. San Angelo LIVE! covered his retirement last year.
