You Can Help Those Displaced by San Angelo House Fire

SAN ANGELO, TX — A GoFundMe campaign launched to support a San Angelo man whose home was destroyed in a Jan. 16 house fire has raised $650 toward a $1,800 goal as of Jan. 21.

Organizer Jody Hart described the beneficiary as an employee and close friend whose house burned down that day, leaving a total of three residents with nothing. Funds will help purchase a small camper to provide temporary stability and cover other immediate needs, according to information from the GoFundMe.

The fire at 337 W. Ave. P was declared a total structural loss, the San Angelo Fire Marshal’s Office reported. Emergency crews were dispatched at 9:45 a.m. to the fully involved structure and backyard fire. High winds and heavy fire loads required 31 firefighters and 15 units for containment and extensive overhaul. The building was later demolished due to collapse risk.

No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation.
