SAN ANGELO, TX — A civil lawsuit alleging more than a decade of sexual abuse of a child continues in the 119th District Court of Tom Green County.
The suit, filed Feb. 6, 2025, states the victim was sexually assaulted from the time she was 4 years old until she was 17.
The suit accuses the late Don Wilson Estes Sr. and his son, Gregory Frank Estes, of repeated sexual assaults. The victim seeks more than $1 million in compensatory and exemplary damages for physical and psychological harm, including post-traumatic stress disorder and injuries that required a total hysterectomy in 2016.
Gregory Frank Estes, currently incarcerated at the Daniel Webster Wallace Unit in Mitchell County after a 2023 conviction on two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child related to the same allegations, is named individually and in representative capacities. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison following a jury trial where testimony confirmed abuse of multiple people.
The suit also initially named Don Wilson Estes Jr. as co-executor of the estates of Don Wilson Estes Sr. and Frances Jean Estes, and as co-trustee of a residuary trust. In April 2025, the victim nonsuited claims against Don Wilson Estes Jr. in his capacity as co-executor of Frances Jean Estes’ estate.
As of February 2026, the case remains active in the discovery phase. Recent docket entries show multiple motions by Gregory Frank Estes for protective orders, to stay discovery, and to quash depositions, with a hearing held Feb. 6, 2026, on protective order issues. A protective order is listed as pending.
