San Angelo has never recorded a temperature higher than 98 in the first three months of the year. It reached 98 once — way back on March 17, 1908.
The city already broke a record Friday when a temperature of 92 was recorded at 1:40 p.m. at the San Angelo Regional Airport, breaking the previous mark of 91 set in 2017.
San Angelo has a high of 96 forecast for Sunday, which would break the record of 92 set in 2023.
Forecasts for next week call for temperatures to drop back closer to normal with a high of 82 on Monday, though highs will again return to the 93-95 degree range from Tuesday-Thursday.
After that, temperatures are projected to drop back into the 80s and high 70s for next weekend.
