SAN ANGELO, TX — Sunny skies and temperatures in the upper 80s to mid-90s are baking much of the San Angelo region today, with south winds of 10 to 20 mph and higher gusts, the National Weather Service said.
An elevated fire threat is in effect across the area as highs climb into the low to mid-90s in many spots, forecasters said. Record high temperatures for the date stand at 93 degrees in Abilene and 94 degrees in San Angelo.
The heat will persist Thursday before a sharp cooldown arrives Friday and Saturday, according to the NWS San Angelo forecast. Highs will drop into the low 70s Friday and the upper 60s to low 70s Saturday across the region. Lows will fall into the low to mid-50s both days.
Temperatures will rebound Sunday and remain mild to warm through early next week, with highs forecast in the mid-80s to low 90s.
Similar patterns are expected in Ballinger, Brady, Brownwood, Coleman, Haskell, Junction, Ozona, San Saba and Sweetwater.
