SAN ANGELO, TX — Through the first three months of the year, there were a total of 661 vehicle crashes reported within the city limits of San Angelo, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The total equates to an average of 7.3 crashes per day.
Despite the high number of collisions, San Angelo is on pace for fewer crashes than last year, when the city had 2,844 crashes for an average of 7.8 per day.
The intersection of Bryant Boulevard and Houston Harte has led the way this year with 24 crashes already reported.
Other intersections with high numbers of crashes included Sherwood Way/Loop 306 (18), Bryant/Beauregard Avenue (12), Bryant/19th Street (10), Knickerbocker Road/Jackson Street (9) and Knickerbocker/Loop 306 (8).
The numbers were slightly higher when including all of Tom Green County with 725 crashes reported through the end of March for an average of 8.1 per day.
One person was taken to the hospital after their vehicle left the road Friday afternoon on US Highway 87 on the outskirts of San Angelo.
