Tom Green County Sheriff's Office Honors Life-Saving Heroes

 

SAN ANGELO, TX - The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office proudly recognized several employees for exceptional service, professionalism, and dedication during its annual awards presentation ceremony held this week in San Angelo.

The evening began with welcoming remarks by Chief Looka, an invocation by Chaplain Chris Roque, and the posting of colors conducted by Lt. Quentin Williams. Guests were also honored to hear remarks from Texas Office of the Attorney General Major Wesley Hensley.

During the ceremony, the Sheriff's Office presented multiple Life Saving Awards to personnel whose actions directly contributed to preserving life during critical incidents. Recipients included:

  • Deputy Xavier Garcia 

  • Deputy Johnathan Rivera 

  • Deputy Ida "Gabby" Rodriguez 

  • Deputy Matt Armstrong 

  • Deputy Jacob Wike

  • Deputy Dylan Chernicky 

  • Deputy Manuel Zavala 

The Sheriff's Office also presented the prestigious Medal of Merit Award in recognition of exemplary service and professionalism above and beyond the normal scope of duty. Recipients included:

  • Sergeant Investigator Nicholas Hammer 

  • Lieutenant Bill Kirkland 

Sheriff Nick Hanna addressed attendees by emphasizing that while awards ceremonies recognize extraordinary moments, they are also reflective of the professionalism, sacrifice, and daily service demonstrated by law enforcement personnel throughout the year.

"The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office extends its appreciation to the families, community partners, and supporters who continue to stand behind local law enforcement personnel and their mission of protecting and serving the citizens of Tom Green County," information stated.
