Lake Nasworthy Boat Ramp Replacement Project Begins Monday

SAN ANGELO, TX - Construction will begin Monday, June 15, on the Lake Nasworthy Boat Ramp Replacement Project, which will replace aging ramps and provide "significant" site upgrades at Knickerbocker and Beaty roads, as well as South Concho Drive, the City of San Angelo announced on Friday. 

The Knickerbocker Road boat ramp will be closed to the public during construction beginning June 15. Once that ramp is complete, construction will shift to the South Concho Drive ramp, followed by the Beaty Road ramp. Only one ramp will be closed at a time, and Phase 1 construction is expected to take approximately 180 days.

This initial phase of the project is a major component of the voter‑approved Lake Nasworthy improvements program and is funded through a combination of local resources and state grant support to enhance public access and recreation. This phase is backed by a Boating Access Grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife, provided through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Wildlife & Sport Fish Restoration Program. The $2.17 million phase includes $1.5 million in grant funding and $675,284 from the Nasworthy Trust Fund.

Phase 2 of the Lake Nasworthy improvements is currently in design and nearing completion. Plans include Red Bluff Road ramp reconstruction, a new full-service boat ramp at Fisherman’s Road with parking, restrooms and a fish cleaning station, and installation of new non-motorized kayak launches at Rock Slough, North Concho and South Concho parks. Following final design approval, the City will apply for additional construction funding through TPWD’s grant program. Phase 2 construction is anticipated to begin in early 2027.
