Shannon Opens Registration for Annual Pink Ribbon Run

SAN ANGELO, TX — Shannon Medical Center is inviting the public to participate in its 19th annual Shannon Pink Ribbon Run on Saturday, Oct. 3.

The event, featuring a one-mile walk/run and a chip-timed 5K and 10K race, will begin at the Shannon Cancer Center, 131 E. Beauregard Ave. The route will run down Magdalen Street and along the Concho River.

Same-day registration will begin at 6:45 a.m. The one-mile run will start at 7:45 a.m., followed by walkers for the race at 8:15 a.m. The 10K race will kick off at 9 a.m., with the 5K race starting at 9:15 a.m.

Entry is $20 for the one-mile walk/run, $25 for the 10K, and $30 for the 5K.

All participants who register by Friday, Sept. 11, will receive an official Pink Ribbon Run t-shirt. Breast cancer survivors are welome to participate at no cost and will receive a special Survivors shirt.

This event is designed to increase awareness of early detection of breast cancer and celebrates those in our community who have bravely fought and survived this disease.

It also raises funds to help local patients in their battle with the latest technological advancements in treatment and detection through the Shannon Breast Center. 

Last year’s event attracted more than 1,500 participants.
