SAN ANGELO, TX — A San Angelo child caught a record fish recently in the Concho River downtown.
Ezekiel Garcia reeled in a Rio Grande Cichlid that weighed in at 0.9 pounds and was 9.75 inches long.
Garcia caught the fish from Celebration Bridge at the Oakes Street Lake.
That section of the Concho River is stocked every two weeks from April through October (with the exception of August) with channel catfish, making it a popular fishing spot.
Garcia’s catch is still in the process of being verified before it becomes the official junior waterbody record.
