SAN ANGELO, TX -- Today’s statewide gas price average in Texas is $3.87 for a gallon of regular unleaded, according to the AAA Texas Weekend Gas Watch.
That price is seven cents less than a week ago and $1.15 more per gallon than on this day last year. Texas is now one of nine states with average gas prices under $4 a gallon, and it is the fourth least expensive U.S. state for gasoline behind Ohio, Indiana and Georgia.
Of the major metropolitan areas surveyed in Texas, drivers in El Paso are paying the most on average at $4.46 per gallon, while drivers in San Antonio are paying the least at $3.76 per gallon. In San Angelo, gas prices are currently sitting at an average of $3.89 per gallon, which is about 20 cents lower than this time a week ago but $1.26 higher than this time a year ago.
The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $4.36, which is five cents lower than last week and $1.25 more compared to this day last year.
“Hurricane Isaias appears to be heading away from impacting Texas refineries as of Thursday morning, and gas prices are currently on a downward trend throughout most of Texas and nationwide,” said Daniel Armbruster, spokesperson for AAA Texas. “AAA Texas recommends using an online tool such as the free AAA Mobile app to shop around virtually for the cheapest gas prices near you.”
