Texas Free College Application Week Continues Through Sunday

SAN ANGELO, TX  — Texas residents can apply for free to public colleges and universities through Sunday under Free College Application Week.

The initiative runs Oct. 12-18 and waives admission application fees for eligible Texas residents seeking undergraduate admission at any public institution in the state. It applies to first-time students, transfer students, and students returning to college.

To receive the waiver, students must submit completed applications through ApplyTexas by 11:59 p.m. CDT Sunday.

Applications that are started but not submitted by the deadline do not qualify. Institutions determine eligibility based on the ApplyTexas submission timestamp.

The program was created by Senate Bill 2231 during the 89th Texas Legislature. It requires all public colleges and universities to waive application fees for Texas residents who apply through ApplyTexas to undergraduate programs during the designated week.

More than 260,000 applications were submitted during the first Free College Application Week last year, according to the Office of the Governor.

Students are encouraged to verify individual institutions’ deadlines for supporting documents, transcripts, and scholarships.
