WATCH: Firefighters Battle Motel Blaze in San Angelo

SAN ANGELO, TX — Thick smoke filled the air Wednesday evening as San Angelo Fire Department crews responded to a fire behind a motel near the intersection of Chadbourne Street and West 12th Street.

Firefighters deployed ladder trucks and multiple hoses to attack the blaze from above and along the building’s perimeter. Crews could be seen directing water onto the roof of the structure as heavy smoke poured from the back of the motel.

Emergency vehicles blocked off parts of 12th Street as firefighters worked to contain the flames. Witnesses reported smoke visible from several blocks away.

As of press time, details about the cause of the fire, possible injuries, or the extent of the damage had not yet been released by officials.
