SAISD to Host 62nd San Angelo Relays this Weekend

SAN ANGELO, TX – The 62nd San Angelo Relays is set to take place this weekend.

As previously reported, on Mar. 13, 2020, SAISD canceled the 2020 San Angelo Relays after fear of spreading Coronavirus. For more see: 62nd Annual San Angelo Relays Canceled Amid Coronavirus

One year later and the Relays have returned to San Angelo to give Concho Valley student athletes a chance to complete on their home turf.

Although it is unclear as of now which schools will be at the meet, UIL has made a rule making school districts limit the number of teams that can compete at track meets. Currently the rule states that only eight total schools, with only one level for boys and girls, are allowed to compete at a single meet.

The relays will begin Thursday at 1 p.m. with the 1A-4A classification. The 5A and 6A schools including San Angelo Central will compete on Friday starting at 1 p.m.

The track meet will be held at San Angelo Stadium.

This will be the 62nd San Angelo Relay. The 61st San Angelo Relay was held in Mar. 2019.
