ACU Men's Basketball Coach goes to UTEP

ABILENE,TX- Joe Golding is leaving ACU.

Head coach of the ACU Wildcats Men’s Basketball Team is leaving Abilene for the UTEP Miners at the same position.

Golding spent the last 10 seasons with the Wildcats and won the Southland Conference Tournament twice in 2019 and 2021. Those same years ACU went on to the NCAA March Madness Tournament as well.

Not leaving as of yet is Brette Tanner. Tanner was Golding’s associate head coach who helped lead the defense. The ACU defense led the nation in turnovers forced per game.

As of right now, consider Tanner in the mix to take over as the head coach at ACU.

The UTEP job became available when Rodney Terry left for Texas with new coach Chris Beard.
