West Texas Fighter KOs Opponent in Pro MMA Debut

 

TEXARKANA, TX – A fighter from rural West Texas won his professional MMA debut in style by knocking out his opponent in the very first round.

PF Thirteen between Mateo Gonzalez and Nathan Gilmore was held at the Arkansas State Fairground on Jun. 19. The fight marked the beginning of Gonzalez's professional MMA career.

During the first round Gonzalez was taken to the ground by Gilmore but he quickly countered and got on top of Gilmore. While on top Gonzalez landed a number of big punches and eventually got an opening to throw a flurry of hammer fists.

Gilmore was able to get up but had shaky legs. Gonzalez threw a huge right hand and knocked out Gilmore in the first round.

"I come from a small town called Levelland Texas but damnit I plan on doing BIG things with my time on this Earth," said Gonzalez in an exclusive interview with San Angelo LIVE! "I am going to protect my record with my life and become a world champion."

Gonzalez is from Levelland, a small town outside of Lubbock. He fights out of the Victory Combat Sports Academy in Lubbock.
