Former Bobcat Baseball Player Called Up to Majors

 

CHICAGO - A former San Angelo Central Bobcat baseball standout will make his MLB debut tonight at 6:10 p.m.

Davis Martin is being called up to the majors by the Chicago White Sox to pitch against the Kansas City Royals.

Martin graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 2015 and played college baseball at Texas Tech in Lubbock. He was drafted in the 14th round of the 2018 MLB Draft by the White Sox.

The White Sox are dealing with COVID issues and needed a spot starter. Martin won both of this AAA starts earlier this month. He posted a 3.00 ERA across five starts in AA.

While at San Angelo Central, Martin took the Bobcats to the regional quarterfinals for the 1st time and when he signed with Texas Tech, earned Freshman All-American honors. The 2016 Red Raiders made it to the College World Series but were eliminated in the 2nd round.
