Legendary Head Coach Welcomed into the Cowboys Ring of Honor After Long Wait

ARLINGTON, TX — Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones inducted Jimmy Johnson, the last head coach to win a Super Bowl for the Dallas Cowboys, into the Cowboys' Ring of Honor during halftime of the Cowboys matchup with the Detroit Lions.

With the Dallas Cowboys already clinching a playoff stop but needing wins to improve their seeding, the Super Bowl winning head coach from the 90's, Jimmy Johnson, was inducted into the Cowboys Ring of Honor after a long and unnecessary wait. 

Johnson coached the Dallas Cowboys from 1989 until 1993 and won two Super Bowls during his time in Dallas, after taking over a 1-15 team. At his induction, he was surrounded by his Big Three, all former Cowboy greats in former quarterback Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, and Emmitt Smith, among other inductees. Johnson, since leaving coaching behind, has enjoyed a successful television career analyzing the game of football. 

Both Jones and Johnson have had a pretty public rift between them but, during tonight's game against the Detroit Lions, both seemed to have burried the hatchet.

The Dallas Cowboys defeated the Detroit Lions on Johnson's big night, 20-19 and improving to 11-5 with only the Washington Commanders in the way of three straight 12-win seasons for the newest Cowboy's head coach, Mike McCarthy, in his three seasons with the team.
