No. 15 Angelo State Tennis Hosts St. Mary's on Saturday

SAN ANGELO, TX — The No. 15 Angelo State Rambelles Tennis team returns home this weekend after a lengthy road trip to host St. Mary's on Saturday, April 6, at the ASU Tennis Complex.

The Belles' last matchup resulted in a close loss last weekend to No. 3 Midwestern State, 3-4. The day prior, Angelo State won an equally contested matchup against No. 24 Lubbock Christian 4-3. The Belles enter this weekend with a 14-2 overall record and sit in a tie for 3rd place with Cameron at 4-1 in the Lone Star Conference standings.

Belles Head Coach Jason Potthoff gave his thoughts on the ladies' performance last weekend and then discussed Saturday's home matchup against St. Mary's at his weekly press conference on Monday at the Junell Center. Watch that press conference below:

Belles' Lineup Against St. Mary's

Angelo State's Letizia Corsini leads the Belles into this weekend as the top singles player. She is ranked 9th in the ITA Women's Singles rankings and is 14-0 headed into the matchup with St. Mary's. Christine Jevicky is another huge contributor to the Belles' success. She is 12-1 this season in Singles. Finally, Freshman and up-and-coming star Jessica Li is 11-4.

One of Angelo State's strongest points this season is its doubles teams. Avery Durham and Eva Schwartz are 12-4 this season in the No. 1 spot and rank No. 23 in the nation overall. Corsini and Ayda Guler lead the way for Angelo State in the No. 2 spot so far this year. The ladies are 13-2 heading into this weekend. At No. 3, Alexandra Vishnevskaya and Mieke Van Deventer are 7-1.

St. Mary's is 8-5 so far this season and 2-2 in conference play. The Belles need to watch out for Selina Wu (6-4) in singles, who is ranked No. 10 nationally. Wu and Karen Kondo are 10-2 in doubles this season, so the Belles need to be ready for a tough matchup.
