Wall Dominates Bi-District Championship Series Despite Stormy Weather

CLYDE, TX — Rainy weather filled with lightning couldn’t stop the Wall Hawks from a Bi-District Championship over the weekend. Initially slated for Friday, May 3, the Hawks saw their first-round matchup with the Llano Yellowjackets postponed to Saturday due to inclement weather.

The Hawks picked up where they left off on Friday to win Games 1 and 2 with complete shutouts to advance to the Area Round.

It was picture-perfect dominance for last year’s 3A state runner-ups. The offensive took care of business while the defense put up zeros across the board on Saturday. Head Coach Jeremy Gordon told his team after the game that no matter what adversity they faced, Wall could overcome it if they stuck together. The Hawks proved that with a dominant first-round win.

The most impressive aspect of the victory on the weekend was the bullpen. Coach Gordon talked about his defense after Saturday’s victory. Watch that interview below:

Next up, the Hawks head to the Area Round, where Wall will face Iowa Park on Friday, May 10, at Abilene Christian University in Abilene. It will be a one-game series to determine the Area Championship. The Hawks have a chance to avenge the Lady Hawks, who fell to Iowa Park in the Area Round on Saturday, 11-3 and 10-0.
