ASU Rams and Belles Named All-Americans and Additional Honors

 

SAN ANGELO, TX — Post-season honors continue to roll in for the Angelo State Baseball and Softball teams. Recently, the Rams’ Tripp Clark and the Belles’ Cheyenne Floyd and Tatiana Trotter received accolades for their performances on the field and in the classroom.

The National College Baseball Writers Association announced on Tuesday, May 28, that Tripp Clark made the first team All-American list.

Clark leds all of Division II Baseball in RBIs this season (92) while in the running amongst the leaders in college baseball in several offensive categories including batting average, hits, OPS, slugging percentage, and on base percentage.

The Rams’ catcher isn’t quite finished with his season yet as the Rams head to the College World Series for the 4th straight year on Wednesday afternoon. The Rams received the 8th seed in the Championship Finals and will face off with top-seeded Central Missouri at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary, NC. First pitch for the Rams this weekend is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The College Sports Communicators (CSC) recently released their Academic All-District teams, and Cheyenne Floyd and Tatiana Trotter were among the honorees.

Cheyenne Floyd

Floyd finished this season with a 20-10 record in the pitcher’s circle with a 1.89 ERA on the season. She also held opponents to a .207 batting average.

The Academic All-District Honor adds to a growing list that consists of the D2CCA South Central Region Pitcher of the Year, the LSC Pitcher of the Year, All-LSC First Team, the LSC All-Tournament Team, and the LSC All-Academic Team. Last week, she even added an NFCA Second Team All-American honors.

Tatiana Trotter

Trotter led the Belles offense this season with a .353 batting average with 43 RBIs. She also broke a program record this year for most triples hit in a season (9).

She adds the Academic All-District Honor to the All-LSC Second Team honors as well as the NFCA All-South Central Region Second Team.

Both ladies have now move to the Academic All-American ballot set to be released on June 18th.
