The Rambelles (13-6, 2-5 LSC) are looking to build momentum late in the season after splitting their last two matches — a 5-2 loss to Lubbock Christian followed by a dominant 7-0 sweep of UT Permian Basin.
Under third-year head coach Jason Potthoff, the Belles opened the season with a program-record 12 straight wins and continue to compete behind a strong singles and doubles lineup. The team reached the NCAA Round of 16 for the first time in program history last year.
Freshman standout Margaux Rene leads the way with a 14-5 singles record and is ranked No. 43 nationally. Rene owns three ranked wins this spring, including a victory over then-No. 3 Amelie Gindl on March 1. She is also part of a solid doubles team alongside fellow freshman Benedetta Raggiotti. The duo is 13-6 on the year.
Veteran Eva Schwartz is 9-9 this season and is coming off a marquee win over the current No. 4 singles player in the country, Jessica Binzari. Schwartz also anchors the Belles’ top doubles pairing with Avery Durham. The tandem is currently ranked No. 7 in Division II with an 11-4 record.
Ivet Stancheva (13-5) continues to shine in key matchups and was recently named LSC Player of the Week following wins over Central Oklahoma and Missouri Western.
St. Mary’s enters the contest 7-2 all-time against ASU but dropped last year’s matchup 4-3. The Rattlers (record not listed) have won back-to-back matches, defeating UT Tyler and No. 24 DBU by identical 4-3 scores.
The Rattlers are led by Alessia Terlizzi (14-1 singles), No. 38 Selina Wu (12-2), and Stela Sifuentes (11-2 at line six). Wu and Terlizzi are both consistent performers at the top of the lineup.
In singles play, the Rambelles hold a combined 66-42 record this season, while they are 33-18 overall in doubles competition.
Saturday’s match marks a key test for Angelo State as the team looks to close out the regular season strong and make another postseason run.
