Angelo State Softball Wins Opener at LSC Tournament

CANYON, TX — The Angelo State University softball team cruised to a 5-1 win over Eastern New Mexico on Thursday in the opening round of the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

The Rambelles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning, and Cheyenne Floyd locked it down from there.

Floyd allowed only three hits in seven innings, with her only blemish coming on a solo home run by ENMU’s Alondra Vasquez in the fourth inning.

ASU answered right back in the bottom of the fourth with a solo HR by Lauren De La Cruz for the game’s final run.

De La Cruz also had a two-run double that got the Belles on the board with a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

No. 3-seeded ASU (44-11) will play again at 2 p.m. Friday against the winner of No. 2 UT Tyler and No. 7 Cameron.
